Saint Louis Zoo hosts Indo-Myanmar Conservation's Asian Turtle Program

The Saint Louis Zoo WildCare Institute hosts conservation partners from Vietnam.

Asian turtles are among the most endangered animals on the planet. To help protect them, the Saint Louis Zoo and partners are working together to return these rare species to the wild.

In July, the Saint Louis Zoo WildCare Institute Asian Turtle Conservation Program hosted a visit from Nguyen Thu Thuy, Animal Manager of Indo-Myanmar Conservation’s Asian Turtle Program (ATP) in Vietnam. Over the past eight years, ATP has successfully rehabilitated and released more than 1,000 endangered turtles into their natural habitats across Vietnam.

Through collaboration and the exchange of expertise, the Saint Louis Zoo and partners like ATP are making meaningful strides to secure a future for some of the planet’s most critically endangered turtle species. A significant step forward for conservation.
