Grevy’s Zebra Foal Debuts at Saint Louis Zoo

10-day-old "Magnolia” is the second zebra birth at the Zoo in three months

Newborn Grevy’s zebra Magnolia made her public debut Wednesday, August 26, at the Saint Louis Zoo. She is the second Grevy's zebra foal born at the Zoo in just three months, marking two important contributions to the world's most critically endangered zebra species.

Female Magnolia was born Sunday, August 16, 2026, weighing 75 lbs. and can now be spotted in the Red Rocks area of the Zoo with her mom, Georgia. Three other Grevy’s zebras (pronounced Gre-VEE, rhymes with Chevy) make up the Zoo's herd, including 3-month-old male foal Prince born in May. Magnolia will meet the rest of the herd once she adjusts to the outdoor habitat at her own pace.
