Webinars – 2024
The Association of Zoos and Aquariums' (AZA) Reproductive Management Center has launched a series of 90-minute webinars on aggression management in zoo and aquarium animals:
- Introduction and Background
- Contraceptive/Hormonal Approaches
- Pharmacological Approaches
- Housing and Husbandry Approaches
- Behavior Modification/Training Approaches
- Aggression Management in Large Avian Species
- Aggression Management from Prosimians to Apes
The first webinar provides introductory and background material on types of aggression, including how we talk about aggression and how that impacts intervention; the hormonal bases of aggression; what to expect in terms of aggression from a natural history perspective; and a discussion on when or when not to manage aggression.
Subsequent webinars each focus on a different approach to aggression management: contraceptive/hormonal; pharmacological; housing and husbandry; and behavior modification.
This series also features several taxonomically focused webinars, with subjects including large avian species and primates.
