Dr. Jeffrey Bonner to Retire as the Dana Brown President & CEO of the Saint Louis Zoo

Jeffrey Bonner, Ph.D., Dana Brown President & CEO of the Saint Louis Zoo, today announced his intention to retire at the end of this year after leading the organization for 19 years. The St. Louis Zoological Park Subdistrict Commission has begun the process of an international search to identify Dr. Bonner's successor in the coming months.

On December 11, 2020, a female southern rockhopper penguin hatched at Penguin & Puffin Coast at the Saint Louis Zoo. This is the first successful hatch of this species at the Zoo in 11 years.

Chimpanzee Born at the Saint Louis Zoo

Important addition to the population of this critically endangered species. Utamu (pronounced oo-TAH-moo), an 18-year-old chimpanzee at the Saint Louis Zoo, gave birth to a yet-to-be-named female baby around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at Jungle of the Apes.

Pandemic Can't Stop Hellbender Conservationists From Saving an Endangered Species

We often use the term “lovebirds” to describe an openly affectionate couple in public. The term could probably be traced to the bird species as they are known for being extremely caring toward one another; lovebird is the common name of a small genus of parrot, Agapornis.
