Adoption Levels

Every animal at the Saint Louis Zoo is available for adoption at many different donation levels starting at $20. When you become a Saint Louis Zoo Parent, your adoption contribution entitles you to these added benefits:

At the $20 level

• Name on Zoo Parents Kiosk and online Zoo Parents Recognition page for one year
• Personalized adoption certificate
• T-shirt transfer and car decal
• Invitation to the Annual Zoo Parents Picnic
• Zoo Parents Newsletter

At the $30-$99 level

• Everything above, plus:
• 5" x 7" color photo of your animal
• Fact sheet
  (only animals listed on the group adoption list have photo and fact sheets available)

At the $100-$249 level

• Everything above, plus:
• Zoo Parents frame for your color photo

$250 and Up

• Everything above, plus:
• Annual Appreciation Dinner invitation
• Saint Louis Zoo Annual Report listing

Exclusive Adoptions ($500 minimum)

As an Exclusive Zoo Parent, your donation is considered sufficient to cover all of your animal's care and feeding for one year.

• Everything above, plus:
• Lunch for two at the Zoo
• Private tour of your animal's area

Classroom and Scout Troop Adoptions

Some of the best Zoo Parents are classrooms and scout troops. In addition to learning about animals, children also learn the benefits of giving, since every dollar raised goes directly to the care and feeding of Zoo animals. Here is what your classroom or scout troop will receive when they adopt an animal at the Zoo.

Please note stickers, pencils and Zoo Animal Cards are limited to 30 per group.

*While all animals at the Zoo can be adopted, Zoo Animal Cards are only available for the following animals: African lion, Amur leopard, Asian elephant, cheetah, Galapagos tortoise, giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Humboldt penguin, komodo dragon, Nile hippo or polar bear.

Outreach programs will be available to groups who raise $800 to adopt an animal. A representative of the Zoo will visit your class within a 30-mile radius of the Zoo and present a program. Some of the outreach topics include ecology and animal classification. Animals or biofacts will also be included in the program.

Your school will receive an Assembly Program when you raise $1500 to adopt an animal at the Saint Louis Zoo. Topic presentations vary and often the presenter will bring along animals and biofacts.

The docent-led tour, outreach program and assembly program are conducted September through April and require six weeks notice to schedule. You will receive a coupon for your free tour or program with your adoption package after adopting an animal at one of these levels.
