1972

The passage of the Zoo/Museum District Tax in 1972 brought major reconstruction and display changes in the Primate, Bird, Reptile and Aquatic Houses. The Lion House was razed to make way for Big Cat Country, opened in 1976. The Cheetah Conservation Center had been dedicated two years before in the area which had housed American bison. The Land of the Rocky Mountain Big Horn Sheep was opened in late 1980.
