Only 15 lucky people can participate in this extraordinary opportunity. You’ll see parts of Alaska that most tours miss, under the leadership of outstanding, experienced guides. You will start in Anchorage with a visit to the Alaska Zoo, then drive to Seward. There you will spend a day touring Kenai Fjords National Park by boat -- on the lookout for sea otters, sea lions, eagles (possibly even whales), in addition to calving glaciers. After spending a night on a private island, you will return to the Kenai Peninsula and gear up for a thrilling raft trip into the heart of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. Then it's on to Denali National Park. On your way, you will visit Girdwood and Mount Alyeska. At Talkeetna, you will have an option to go "flightseeing" around Denali (Mount McKinley). You will spend two full days in Denali National Park in the Kantishna region, where you will have a chance to participate in many activities, such as hiking on the tundra and panning for gold. Here you will have a chance of seeing grizzlies, moose, dall sheep and other wildlife. Of course, there will be wonderful photo opportunities. Then you return to Anchorage by train before setting off homeward. (Note: This adventure is suitable for participants ages 10 and older. However those with certain physical disabilities may not be able to participate in some of the rafting or hiking activities. Every effort will be made to offer a substitute activity to those unable to join the group.) Escorted by Jeff Ettling, Curator of Reptiles, Amphibians and Aquatics.
