ZOOmagination Station will re-open on September 3, 2008 in its new location on the upper level of The Living World. Admission is free.

Create, Explore, Investigate & Imagine!

The Zoo's new discovery room experience invites young children and their caregivers to create, explore, investigate, and imagine while discovering the animal world together. The experience is focused on families with children ages birth-9, though all ages are welcome.

Back Yard Wildlife Experience
Explore the habitat surrounding an interactive playhouse. Play with binoculars, magnifiers and field guides as you identify native wildlife. Learn about animal clues as you identify scat, bird songs and more. Fill birdfeeders, care for native plants and find out how to attract wildlife to your own backyard.

Animal Care Corner
Investigate the jobs of zookeepers and veterinarians with costumes, pretend Zoo animals and tools of the trade. Discover how zookeepers care for the animals as you sift scat, squeegee aquariums and hook snakes. Examine x-rays, bandage bears and listen to the heart of a hippo, just like a real veterinarian.

Animal Explorations
Create an underwater adventure with amazing ocean animal models in the water sensory table. Build a polar paradise in moon sand for a whole colony of penguins. Decorate a "toad abode" to take home at the creation station, and begin attracting wildlife to your own backyard. Learn how animals communicate by listening to real animal calls and matching them to pictures

Build-A-Habitat
Create your own animal habitat with realistic animal replicas and natural elements. Use plants, logs, caves, fences, waterways and more to build wild animal habitats or design their own Zoo enclosures. Sponsored by Lowe's.

ZOOmagination Theater
Explore wacky wildlife adventures with a diverse cast of animal puppets, or tell a story with the forest finger puppets in their giant tree stump homes.

Discovery Boxes
Investigate amazing animal adaptations in simple hands-on experiments. Children and their caregivers can compare feathers, tell a story with animal tracks, and learn how apes go fishing for termites. Plus there's much more to explore in over 15 different activity kits.

Cubs & Pups Pad
Just for the wee ones! Ages 2 and under can play with puppets, plush animals and giant pillows on a soft turtle mat. Their caregivers help them explore the animal world through books and manipulatives which simulate how animals, move, act and sound.

Admission

Admission is free. One adult (18+) is required for every four children. Timed-tickets will be issued at the Welcome Desk in The Living World Building. ZOOmagination Station is now located on the upper level of The Living World Building (North Entrance).
