After-School Girl Scout Junior Badge Programs

Do you want an exciting after-school activity that can work toward earning a badge? Come to the Zoo for an after-school badge program. Each program includes a 45 minute live animal presentation designed to meet a badge requirement. You can extend the program for another 30 minutes and conduct an outdoor activity that also meets a badge requirement. Before leaving, we will provide you with some fun ideas for other badge requirements.

Who registers: Girl Scout Junior Troops (max. 30 scouts and adults)
Times: Classes are offered on Weekdays from September to May, and begin at 3:30 p.m.
Fee: 45 minute program is $45 per troop; 75 minute program is $90 per troop.

For registration information, please call (314) 646-4544.

Earth Connections Badge

Everything on the Earth is connected; we call the study of these connections "ecology." Meet us at the zoo to learn what ecology is and how we are trying to help the animals and plants around the world. We will go out on Zoo grounds, so dress for the weather. (The 45-minute class will complete #6 "Saving Animals and Plants," the 30-minute extension will complete #1 "Be an Ecologist: Your Study Area." We will also provide ideas to complete #7 "Adapt or Perish," on your own at the Zoo.)

Wildlife Badge

Wildlife is everywhere, from the oceans to your backyard. Come to the Zoo and learn about some our animals both from the wild and from right here in Missouri. We will go out on Zoo grounds to look at some animals, so dress for the weather. (45-minute class will complete #4 "We are Family," the 30 minute lab will complete #10 "How was your Day?" We will also provide ideas to complete #2 "It's all in the Detail" on your own at the Zoo. Please bring colored pencils or markers if you choose to do the last activity (#2) while at the Zoo.)

Tours

The Zoo's Education Department offers tours seven days a week from September through May, unless otherwise noted. Tours are offered at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.
