Snooze at the Zoo - Fall 2010 / Spring 2011 Wild Americas!
If you love animals, enjoy spending the night out, and want to complete activities toward your scout badges, than Snooze at the Zoo is an adventure you won't want to miss!
North and South America are rich in biodiversity and animal folklore. We will explore the wildlife of the Americas while we learn about mystery and folklore of some of these amazing animals.
Overnight evening activities will include a live animal encounter, rotations through exciting activities, an evening pizza snack (with a soft drink), and a night hike around Zoo grounds, and a flashlight tour of the Herpetarium. The morning portion of the overnight adventure includes a continental breakfast, a morning stroll around Zoo grounds to see the animals wake-up, a souvenir Zoo patch and glow-in-the-dark overnight cup!

Who Registers: Girl Scout Brownie troops with adult leaders or parents Maximum: 60 or 180 participants depending on the location. Dates marked with * are scheduled in the Living World (maximum of 180 participants). All other programs are held in the Exploration Outpost (maximum of 60 participants). Fee: $35 / person

Girl Scout Brownies - Try It Days
At these events, Brownie troops can spend a couple of hours, or a leisurely day at the Zoo doing activities to earn a Try-It badge. Registered troops will receive a guide booklet upon check in at the Zoo. The booklet will show where activities are located and will help you record your experiences. Zoo Instructors will be on hand to lead or help with activities. Activity stations will be set up and can be visited anytime during the event and can be completed in any order. Brownies completing at least four activities will receive their Try-It badge at the Zoo.

Girl Scout Brownie Animal Try It Evenings
Want to spend an evening at the Saint Louis Zoo and earn your Animals Try It badge too? Brownie troops can avoid the crowds and spend an unforgettable evening meeting live animals, participating in games and activities, and even taking a night hike around the Zoo. During the evening, you will:
- Learn tons of awesome animal information
- Walk like a giraffe, slither like a snake and slide like a sea lion
- Discover safe ways to enjoy and study wildlife
- Discuss the difference between wild animals and pets
- Join a Zoo animal chorus as you learn animal sounds
- See what Zoo animals do when the sun goes down!
- Receive you Animals Try It badge at the end of the evening
Who registers: Girl Scout Brownie Troops
We may be able to schedule an Animal Try It program just for your troop. Fees are $15 per scout with a minimum fee of $450 for an evening program (6 - 8:30 pm), or a minimum fee of $300 for an after-school program (3:30 - 6 pm.) Call (314) 646-4544 for additional information.
Girl Scout Brownie Try It After School
Do you want an exciting after school activity that can work toward earning a badge? Come to the Zoo for an after school Girl Scout Brownie Try- It program. Each program includes a 45 minute live animal presentation designed to meet a criteria of a badge. You can extend the program for another 30 minutes and complete a craft that also meets a badge requirement. Before leaving, we will provide you with some fun ideas to complete the rest of the Try-It.
Who registers: Girl Scout Brownie Troops (max. 30 girls and adults) Times: Classes are offered on Weekdays from September to May, and begin at 3:30 p.m. Fee: 45 minute program is $45 per troop; 75 minute program is $90 per troop. For registration information, please call (314) 646-4544.
Eco-Explorers Try-It
Explore the cool world of ecology, and learn how everything is connected. We will learn what a habitat is and how animals and plants need each other. (45 minute class will complete #2 – What’s a Habitat and the 30 minute craft will complete #4 – Food Chain)
Plants Try-It
Plants are really important to people and animals. Come to the Zoo and learn about plants and all the things they do for us. We will be going out on Zoo grounds to find plants so dress for the weather. (45 minute class will complete #4 Leaf Hunt and the 30 minute craft will complete #2 Plant Rubbings) * Due to the need for plants in the program, it will not be available from January to March.
Tours
The Zoo’s Education Department offers tours seven days a week from September through May, unless otherwise noted. Tours are offered at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2 p.m.
