For students entering 7th - 9th grade.

Too old for Camp? Then you're ready for Teen Camp; an awesome, summer adventure for teens! Teen Camp combines all of the best aspects of camp - fun, friends, music, crafts, skits, live animal encounters and awesome counselors - with more in-depth information about Zoo animals and conservation, and behind-the-scenes tours of Zoo exhibits! The theme for Teen Camp is We Care - WildCare.

Limited to 36 participants per session
Instructors: Seasonal Instructors, Zoo staff and Zoo ALIVE volunteers
Fee: ZFA Members $195/ General Public $215

*Indicates that KangaCare is available during this week. KangaCare is an after-care program from 3-6 p.m. Monday - Wednesday and until 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, and is available to Camp KangaZoo and Teen Camp participants for an additional fee.


Zoo ALIVE! - Active Leaders In Volunteer Education
For High School students age 15 and up

Join Zoo ALIVE, the Zoo's year-round volunteer program for teens! Zoo ALIVE volunteers help with Camp KangaZoo, overnight programs, and other awesome Zoo programs and events throughout the year. It's a great way to gain valuable volunteer experience, meet other teens who love animals and kids, learn a lot about wildlife, nature and the Zoo, enhance your leadership and communication skills and make a difference! Applications for 2009 are due April 3.

If accepted into the program, Zoo ALIVE volunteers are required to:

  • Attend a mandatory training session on either Saturday, June 6 or Friday, June 12, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Volunteer to help with 2 consecutive weeks of Camp KangaZoo
  • Volunteer for two activities or programs per month throughout the year
  • Attend a monthly meeting throughout the year, held the first Sunday of every month, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., beginning June 7. An orientation meeting for parents will be held before the June meeting at 4:30 p.m.

Joining Zoo ALIVE is free. Some optional activities (field trips, shirts, etc.) may require a small fee.
