Community programs can be presented for schools, libraries, scouts and other community groups for all age levels.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Program length: 45 minutes
Offered year-round

There's a lot to see when you visit the Zoo, but did you ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes? We'll show pictures and tell stories about what you don't see even when you come to the Zoo. Get the inside scoop with this program. We'll even bring animals that aren't on public display for you to see.

FLYING FRIENDS

Program length: 45 minutes
Offered year-round

What kinds of animals fly? Is there a difference between flying and gliding? Learn about why and how animals fly and meet live animals. Practice skills to help you identify wild birds.

ZOO NUTRITION 101

Program length: 45 minutes
Offered year-round

At the Zoo, our staff in the Animal Nutrition Center work hard to make sure the animals eat well. With over 11,000 animals to feed, that's no small job. This program will show you how we do it. See what's on our grocery list and then meet live animals and find out what they eat, too.

AFRICAN STORYTELLING

Program length: 45 minutes
Offered year-round

Hear two African folk tales that teach valuable lessons about how friends treat each other. Meet the animals that represent the main characters in the stories and learn facts about them. Also includes African drumming and singing.

MISSOURI WILDLIFE

Program length: 45 minutes
Offered year-round

Discover Missouri's diverse wildlife and wild places. Meet some animals that you might find in your own backyard. Become familiar with environmental issues affecting local animals and habitats.

NOTHING TO FEAR

Program length: 45 minutes
Offered year-round

Are you afraid of snakes? When you think of birds, do you think of horror movies? We'll bring some creatures that might ordinarily scare you and explain why these animals are really our friends.

WILD ABOUT READING

Progam length: 30 or 45 minutes
Offered year-round

This read-aloud program is full of fun for all ages. We’ll read three stories with animal characters in them.Then you will meet the live versions and learn about these fascinating animals.

WONDERFUL WORLD OF ANIMALS

Program length: 45 minutes
Offered year-round

This program highlights the wonderful world of animals. We will bring animals, biofacts and other materials to your site to provide a multi-sensory experience on this topic.

Program Length and Pricing

30 Minute Presentations
Fee: $80 (ZMD $65)
Please note: A minimum of two programs must be scheduled.

45 Minute Presentations
Fee: $160 for the first program, $120 for a second program scheduled at the same site on the same day.
ZMD: $130 for the first program, $90 for a second program at the same site on the same day.

We can present information through assemblies and booth programs, or we can design a program that fits your group's needs:

  • Custom-Designed Programs

    Fee: $475 (ZMD $400)
  • Booth Programs
    Does your school hold a science night? Are you having a community event and would like the Zoo to attend? We can set up a booth with crafts, biofacts and other interesting materials. These programs are custom-designed to meet your needs.
    Fee: $160 (ZMD $130) for the first hour, $60 for each additional half hour.
