Unlike most geckos, this animal's bold colors announce its presence. As the name implies, day geckos are active during the day (diurnal) and typically have round eye pupils. Instead of eyelids, clear fixed scales cover their eyes. These scales are kept clean and moist with a swipe of the gecko's long tongue.
