The Swainson’s hawk is quite a flier. It has one of the longest non-stop migrations of any bird of prey. In the spring and summer, the hawk makes its home in the grasslands of the western United States. Then it migrates to South America in the fall to spend the winter where it's warm. Its average annual trip: 1100-1700 miles!
