As they move about, the undigested seeds of the fruit they eat are left behind in the birds’ droppings. In this way, curassows play a vital role in renewing the forest. Habitat loss and hunting are taking a toll on the number of wild curassows. Did You Know? The curassow is one of the largest birds in the South American forests.
