The striking appearance of Bali mynahs is emphasized by their jaunty walk and outgoing personality, as well as their ability to raise the long, white crest on their head. Because of habitat loss and capture for the pet trade, there are fewer than 60 of these birds left in the wild. The Saint Louis Zoo is helping to breed them in the hopes the mynahs can be re-established in the wild.
Did You Know?
All mynahs are closely related to starlings.
